Aims: Since the reception of natural lighting in different places is different according to the path of the sun and the different conditions of the sky during the day, season and year, it is possible to balance and optimize the amount of natural lighting in the interior by using the kinetic facade. Therefore, the current study investigates the use of natural lighting using two kinetic facades with a similar triangular geometric model and a non-symmetrical folding and rotating kinematic model in the south wall of an office building in Tehran.Methods: In order to evaluate the natural lighting, the quantitative method and simulation tool of Grasshopper and Honeybee Plus plugin version 06 and Ladybug lbt version 1.5.0 have been used, and then the simulation results have been analyzed using the comparative study method.Findings: Comparing the findings of facades, the folding kinematic model is face with the possibility of glare and visual discomfort in the space in all three months of June, March and April, as well as at 12 noon in the months of June and march with low light in the space. But the facade with a rotating kinematic model only faces the problem of low light in the space. To solve these problems, the parameters have been changed.Conclusion: The feedback of both facades as a result of the variable parameters, primarily the degree of facade opening with its performance in relation to the position of the sun, are more important than the reflection coefficient of the surfaces and the visual transmission coefficient of the glass. Finally, the rotational kinematic model performs better in response to natural lighting.
