Abstract

Enclosure is the most important principle of creating space and the obvious quality of each place and also the means of creating different identities. In Iranian architecture, the mass includes and shapes the space, which has the concept of enclosure. The purpose of this article is to study the methods of achieving a variety of enclosed areas in the space organization of Kashan historic houses and to reinterpret their enclosure. It has been selected as the largest historical house in Kashan with various introverted areas as a study sample. In order to reinterpret the enclosure according to the labyrinthine structure of this house, compatible components have been used in the rhizomatic epistemological foundations for the possibility of adapting to such a structure. Rhizome is a biological term that, in the place of metaphor, has concepts such as labyrinth, multiplicity, connection, difference, and intermediate position. Thus, in the study of research literature, first the elements that create enclosure as well as the elements of multiple space and rhizome labyrinth are identified. Then in order to get the different qualities of ordering of the enclosed space in a quasi-rhizomatic structure, the aspects of the relationship between these two categories with each other are inferred. Research method is descriptive-analytical and logical reasoning; The method of data collection was library as well as field survey and data analysis tools were UCL Depthmap and A graph software. The results show that multiple physical / spatial approaches in adapting to the rhizome space body include removing and creating realms, fluidity, flexibility, differences and inequalities, multiplicity of spaces and paths, and being in the middle and in between. in creating confinement and diversity. And the multiplicity of degrees of confinement has been effective.
